Scheidel named AE Sport Scholar-Athlete

BOSTON, Mass. (BUBearcats.com) – Youngest graduate from Binghamton Kristen Scheidel was named the 2024 America East Women’s Lacrosse Sport Scholar-Athlete, the conference announced Thursday afternoon.

After graduating summa cum laude with her Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences this spring, Scheidel is now attending the Physicians Assistant School at Touro University.

The midfielder received the America East Elite 18 Award for having the highest grade point average of all players who participated in the America East Championship last May. Scheidel was also the Bearcats’ only representative on the conference’s All-Academic team.

Scheidel was twice selected to the America East All-Conference and appeared in every single game for the Bearcats during her college career. She is among the top players in program history in career draw controls, draw controls in a season and draw controls per game.

The Scholar-Athletes were members of teams in the 12 championship sports sponsored by America East during the winter and spring seasons. Nominees were nominated by their institution, which could nominate up to one student-athlete per sport, and then voted on by the conference’s Student-Athlete Engagement Committee.

Each America East Scholar-Athlete was a projected starter or featured alternate and has a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50. Sport Scholar-Athletes are automatically eligible for the America East Female or Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year award, which will be announced next week.
