Scattered showers are possible in the Detroit metropolitan area midweek – here’s what to expect

4Warn Weather – We’re tracking some storms south of the Michigan-Ohio border. A cell west of Sandusky triggered a tornado warning around 4 p.m., although it was radar-indicated and not confirmed.

This suggests that the atmosphere has enough instability and other components to create rotating mini-supercells.

Most, if not all, of the energy will remain south of Metro Detroit. However, there is a slight risk of Category 1 severe weather from Ann Arbor to Detroit and further south.

Wednesday

Any thunderstorms will have cleared by 11 p.m. Isolated showers are possible on Wednesday, but it will remain mostly dry during the day.

Thursday-Friday

Things are looking good for Thursday and Friday. The high pressure area has the upper hand and will bring us a mix of clouds and sun as well as temperatures around 24 degrees.

We are also tracking Tropical Storm Helene, which is expected to strengthen into a major hurricane and make landfall in Florida sometime Thursday or Friday.

The leftovers could bring us a scattered rain shower for the weekend – there is a lot to discuss tonight at 11pm
