The Savannah Bananas will host two exhibition shows at Great American Ball Park June 13-14 as part of next year’s national barnstorming tour, the organization announced Thursday evening.

The Bananas from Savannah, Georgia, known as the Harlem Globetrotters of baseball, embarked on their first national tour this year. Last summer, they visited a handful of Major League Baseball stadiums for the first time, including Progressive Field in Cleveland. The tour was a complete success: The Bananas were sold out everywhere.

The Bananas played in 29 cities this year and attracted more than 1 million fans.

Cincinnati Reds officials tried to secure a tour stop for the Bananas this year. Instead, the Bananas visited Cleveland, Columbus and Louisville. The Bananas are popular with Ohioans, a representative from the organization told The Enquirer last year, promising that “returning to Ohio is a future for us.”
