Samsung TV Plus offers free access to the first season of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power”

Samsung TV Plus, the free, ad-supported streaming video platform for connected Samsung TVs, announced on August 15 that it has begun streaming the first season of the Prime Video original series “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.”
The launch marks the first “free” access to the Prime Video show, which reportedly has one of the most expensive TV production budgets, at $58 million per episode, or $465 million for the season.
Set in the legendary Second Age of Middle-earth, the ensemble cast story follows the forging of the Rings of Power, the rise of the Dark Lord Sauron, and the epic adventures of Elves, Dwarves, and Men as they confront the long-feared return of evil to Middle-earth.
Thanks to the partnership between Prime Video and Samsung, the first season will be available on over 300 million Samsung screens in a limited two-week window. The new season of the series will premiere on August 29 on Prime Video.
“We are excited to have expanded our partnership with Prime Video to make Samsung TV Plus the only place to watch (the show) ahead of the second season premiere,” said Salek Brodsky, SVP & GM of Samsung TV Plus, in a statement.
