Sabrina Carpenter surprisingly thanks everyone in her emotional VMA speech

Sabrina Carpenter won her first ever trophy at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs).

On Wednesday, Carpenter received the Song of the Year Award for her hit espresso.

The 25-year-old singer, who was up against top artists such as Taylor Swift, Beyonce and Kendrick Lamar, expressed her heartfelt gratitude in her speech, saying: “I have literally never won one of these awards before. This is really special. The first people I want to thank are the fans.”

“If you clap after anything I say, they’ll call me off the stage, so hold on a minute. But I just want to say that you are the reason I get to do what I love, but also the reason we get to have so much fun and share music together,” Carpenter added.

She said: “And I’m just so grateful to have the best, truly the best fans in the world. I know it sounds cheesy, but I love you guys.”

In addition, Carpenter also mentioned her family, managers and even her pets, saying, “Thank you, thank you to my managers, thank you to my family, my cats and dogs at home who watched, and thank you to the people who made ‘Espresso’ with me.”

“I love making music with you and I can’t wait to share more music with you. And thank you,” said the Please, please, please The hitmaker concluded.
