Rylan has revealed that he booked a venue for his 10th wedding anniversary but lost the deposit because he forgot to cancel following his divorce.

The TV presenter married Dan Neal in 2015, but they split in 2021 after six years of marriage. Rylan has spoken openly about how traumatic the split was for him. Had they stayed together, the couple would have celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary next year, and Rylan has now told how he has been making plans for the milestone.

He spoke about the moment on ITV’s This Morning on Friday during a discussion about marriage.

What, how and why?

Rylan hosted the daytime show alongside Josie Gibson and the couple were discussing weddings with their guests when he revealed he had already booked a special party before the split. He said: “I actually booked, I didn’t know, I booked a venue for my 10th wedding anniversary.”

“A few months ago I got an email asking, ‘Do you want this venue?’ I said, ‘No, no, I don’t.'”

“I forgot,” the TV star admitted. “I lost my deposit.”

The wedding conversation turned to whether people who paid less for their wedding ended up staying together longer. The TV presenter said that if he were to get married again, he would do it very differently the second time.

Rylan said: “If I ever do it again, I won’t tell anyone. I’ll just send someone to my house and then we’ll be in our underpants… ‘Yep, I do’, ta da. I felt like my wedding was just so big,” he said. Rylan hopes to find love again.

What happened to Rylan and Dan Neal?

Rylan met Neal when he was a contestant on the reality show Big Brother in 2013, when the star hosted the spin-off show Big Brother’s Bit On The Side. They fell in love and became a couple before tying the knot together in 2015.

However, the end of their romance six years later came as a surprise and Rylan spoke openly about the impact it had on him.

In 2022, the star said that after his marriage ended, he felt like he “couldn’t move on.” In his book Ten: The Decade That Changed My Future, he is quoted as saying, “‘What’s the point?’ I thought. I had lost what I thought was everything, the one thing I’d ever wanted. A man I loved. A family of my own. And now it was gone. So I tried to end it.”

“Thank God I was unsuccessful,” he added.
