Rumor has it that the actress from “The Mandalorian” and “Grogu” confirms that she will star in the film
Good news for Star Wars fans who have heard rumors about Sigourney Weaver as the lead actress in the upcoming The Mandalorian and Grogu The hopes for the film were true, as the “Alien” star confirmed her casting.
“I’m playing a role in The Mandalorian & Grogu,” Weaver confirmed in an interview with Deadline. “I met Grogu for the first time the other day.” The Avatar star then revealed that filming for her role will be completed before the end of this year.
Weaver is the first star to confirm his casting. It is currently unclear who else will appear in the upcoming flick, although we can assume that Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal will reprise his role, alongside Baby Yoda aka Grogu, of course. One Star Wars character who will not appear is Boba Fett. The star of The Book of Boba Fett Temuera Morrison recently announced the news, adding that the poor reception of the spin-off show may have forever affected his character’s future.
The last time we saw Mando and his little Grogu was in The Mandalorian Season 3, The couple had settled together on Nevarro and Mando officially adopted Grogu as his own son. Now the duo will make their own feature film, the first Star Wars film since The Rise of Skywalker decreased in 2019.
Disney is keeping the plot details of The Mandalorian & Grogu movie tight-lipped for now. However, at D23 2024, some preview footage was shown showing Grogu as Din Djarin’s bounty hunter apprentice. The clip also featured appearances from some Babu Friks, Razor Crest and Zeb Orrelios, as well as some shots of a distant snowy planet.
No further cast list has been announced for The Mandalorian & Grogu yet. The Mandalorian series creator Jon Favreau is directing with Ahsoka Producers are creator Dave Filoni and Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy.
