Robert Griffin III supports FSU after surprise win against Georgia Tech, hopes for CFB playoffs remain

No. 10 Florida State suffered its first loss of the season on Saturday via a walk-off field goal by the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, finishing 24-21 in Dublin, Ireland. With such high hopes for the 2024 season and another run at the ACC, the Seminoles will return to Tallahassee, FL, with a 0-1 record (0-1 ACC) as they prepare to face Boston College on Labor Day.

But it’s not all doom and gloom for the Garnet and Gold. Losing a thrilling game in Week 0 is an obstacle, but not a reason to hope for a place in the new 12-team College Football Playoff. Former ESPN analyst Robert Griffin III has revealed that they can still defend the ACC title and make the playoffs.

SUMMARY: Georgia Tech beats FSU Football 24-21 in thrilling season opener

“Florida State’s mission doesn’t change. The only way to stand up to their vocal haters was to once again fight their way into the College Football Playoff,” Griffin tweeted after the game. “This loss doesn’t change that. Now let them laugh and troll. Use it as fuel and prove yourselves. Period.”

Although it was a hard-fought game for both teams, the loss left more question marks than answers about how the Seminoles will fare in 2024 after trading 13 starters from last season to the NFL. Florida State has the toughest schedule in the country and will need a lot of new faces to get to the promised land.

While the loss doesn’t help FSU climb to the top of the ACC, it could serve as a reminder that in the world of college football, every moment counts and that the tide can change at any point in the season, even if they’re favored by 10.5 points.
