Road near Hoboken border will be closed for three months

HOBOKEN, NJ — A street near the Hoboken-Weehawken city line will be closed for three months starting in mid-September, the city announced Monday evening.

“On or about Monday, September 16, 15th Street from Park Avenue to Bloomfield Street will be closed to through traffic 24 hours a day for

about three months to enable construction of the Rebuild by Design Resist structure at the intersection of 15th Street and
Garden Street,” the city said in a statement.

“Garden Street from 14th to 15th Streets and the alley between Garden Street and Bloomfield Street will remain closed. The sidewalks on the south side of 15th Street between Park Avenue and Garden Street and between Garden Street and Bloomfield Street will remain open; as will the west side of Garden Street from 14th to 15th Streets. Garage access will remain open.”

The city said police will be on site to direct traffic flow and detour signs and billboards will be posted in the area.

Will affect school dropout rates

Because the area is close to at least one charter school, the city announced that it would be closing both sides of the
Bloomfield Street and the north side of 14th Street to pick up and drop off children from school Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The city announced that no-parking signs would be put up temporarily.

“Residents are encouraged to walk, bike or use public transportation such as the HOP shuttle,” the city said.

The city also said:

Designated loading zones will continue to be provided on the north side of 14th Street between Garden Street and Park Avenue for deliveries and resident shuttle pickup and drop-off.

Emergency access for police and emergency vehicles will be provided via 15th Street, while fire vehicles will use the cobblestone area of ​​Garden Street north of 14th Street. To facilitate emergency access, the bollards on Garden Street at 14th Street have been temporarily removed.
