An initial investigation shows that a truck pulling an excavator trailer struck the bridge on Oneida Street outside of Washington Mills near Roberts Road heading toward Chadwicks. This accident is causing significant road closures and delays as cleanup efforts are already underway and the investigation is ongoing.

According to police, the following streets are closed until further notice.

  • Oneida Street between Roberts Road and Oxford Road.
  • State Route 8 north between Sauquoit and Kellogg Road.

As a result, traffic will be slowed and you may need to find an alternate route when commuting to work or driving into town to run errands or shop for groceries. Authorities are working hard to resolve this issue quickly. Avoid the area unless absolutely necessary. It is common for bridges to be victims of truck accidents as the clearance height is sometimes a little too low for these vehicles. We will continue to provide updates as they become available.
