Riley Gaines speaks at Trump rally on women’s rights in the context of the lawsuit against transgender swimmers

OutKick contributor and former college swimmer Riley Gaines delivered a speech at former President Trump’s rally in Glendale, Arizona, on Friday, declaring that she would vote for Trump rather than Vice President Kamala Harris, saying, “I’m voting for Donald J. Trump because I’m a woman.”

Gaines, the host of the “Gaines for Girls” Podcast, was part of a speaker lineup that included Arizona Republican Senate candidate Kari Lake and Arizona Republican Representatives Andy Biggs, Paul Gosar and Eli Crane.

Gaines’ statement was a response to Democratic voters who say they are voting for Harris because she is a woman. She then listed several issues that are important to her as a voter and on which she opposes the Democrats. Gaines was particularly critical of the Democrats’ stance on gender reassignment surgery.

“They don’t believe in school choice, they don’t believe in parental rights or protecting children, they don’t believe in freedom unless it’s the freedom to have an abortion or to chemically or surgically castrate children,” she said. “There’s one constituency that knows what a woman is and is sworn to take decisive action to protect our gender rights, while the other constituency believes men can get pregnant and that tampons belong in boys’ bathrooms.”

Gaines has agreed to testify in Georgia about her experience competing against and sharing a locker room with a biological man, Lia Thomas, alongside four other NCAA All-American athletes, Fox News Digital reported Friday.

Gaines will join Reka Gyorgy, Kylee Alons, Grace Countie and Kaitlynn Wheeler, all members of the Independent Council on Women’s Sports (ICONS), who filed a lawsuit against the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) in March, accusing the association of knowingly violating Title IX by allowing Thomas to participate.

The committee’s investigation will focus on the 2022 NCAA Division I Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships, where Thomas competed for the University of Pennsylvania women’s swim team.

Gaines competed with Thomas, who identifies as a woman, at the 2022 200-yard championships and ultimately tied with her.

Gaines and the other women involved in the tournament also reportedly remember being forced to share a changing room with Thomas. The five female athletes will reportedly explain how they were harmed by the actions of Georgia Tech University and the NCAA and what needs to be done to protect women in the future.
