Report: Two dead and one injured in shooting at San Diego home

SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA – Two people were killed and another injured in a shooting near Point Loma High School Wednesday afternoon.

Just before 4 p.m., San Diego police officers were called to a home at 3600 Zola Street and found the bodies of a woman, believed to be in her 60s, and a man, believed to be in his 30s, NBC San Diego reported. One of the victims was found in a side yard and the other possibly in the kitchen, police told NBC.

Police closed Zola Street from Chatsworth to Poinsettia Drive.

A third victim, a woman in her 80s, was hospitalized in serious condition.

“She was found out here on the street,” SDPD Homicide Lt. Jud Campbell told NBC San Diego. “Officers removed her from the scene and began first aid until paramedics came and picked her up and took her to the hospital.”

A possible suspect, presumably a local resident and the son of the 80-year-old woman, was arrested in the area a short time later, police said.

According to the San Diego Union Tribune, several people, including the suspect, called 911 to report the shooting. The newspaper said police had received calls about the suspect before.

The shooting occurred shortly after classes ended at nearby Point Loma High School.

The circumstances leading to the shooting were not immediately clear.
