Report: Lions player Dan Campbell doxxed by daughter’s classmate, prompting family move | Detroit Lions

According to a report published Monday by the Detroit News, Dan Campbell’s home address was leaked on social media by one of his daughter’s classmates earlier this year, prompting the Detroit Lions head coach to sell the family home after at least four documented incidents of harassment and unwanted visitors.

The Detroit News reported that the doxxing prompted several people to show up at the Campbells’ residence in Bloomfield Township, Michigan, on the evening of January 28, shortly after the Lions’ loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game.

An investigation conducted by police and NFL security revealed that a male high school classmate of Campbell’s daughter had posted the family’s home address on Snapchat with the caption: “Fool for trying.”

Campbell and his wife, Holly, who were still in the Bay Area at the time, became “fearful for their daughter’s safety” after vehicles and people appeared outside the home, the report said. The daughter’s boyfriend, who was also inside the home, “went outside in his vehicle and flashed his lights at anyone who approached, at which point those people turned and drove away,” the report said.

According to the report, the daughter’s classmate was identified the following day and questioned by investigators, but authorities told Holly Campbell that the incident did not meet the requirements for charges to be brought against the classmate.

The classmate said he and his friends were “dismayed” by the Lions’ loss to the 49ers and he “found the Snapchat post hilarious.” The classmate and his friends later drove to the Campbells’ house, parked on the street and “yelled nasty things at the house” before driving away, according to the report.

“Holly’s only concern is that her address is now known, and she fears that next season people will know when her husband is out of town and will try to take advantage,” the investigator wrote, according to the report.

Last week, Crain’s Detroit Business reported that the Campbells’ address had surfaced online, leading to multiple pranks and harassment. The publication said Campbell and his wife purchased a 7,800-square-foot Cape Cod-style “mansion” in Oakland County, Michigan, in 2021.

“The house is beautiful,” Campbell told Crain’s. “It’s just that when we lost, people found out where we lived.”

While Campbell did not provide any information about the family’s new home, the old one was listed on Zillow on Tuesday for $4.5 million and went under contract the same day. According to Zillow information, the five-bedroom, seven-plus bathroom home on a 1.72-acre lot sold for $3.5 million in March 2021.

Campbell’s Lions had a 3-13-1 record in his first season in 2021, but have a 23-14 record since then.
