Regional sports preparation round for Tuesday, August 27 – InForum

Fargo Davies 4, West Fargo Sheyenne 1

FARGO — Veteran Fargo Davies forward Charlie Metzger scored from 30 yards out to the right side just over three minutes into the game, and the Eagles never trailed in their Eastern Dakota Conference win over West Fargo Sheyenne on Tuesday.

Sekou Konneh, Leon Hidanovic and Max Glasheen also scored goals for Davies. Emmanuel Sonkarlay scored the only goal for the Mustangs.

Davies’ Kenny Biewer saved five times, Sheyenne’s Björn Kastr six times.

Davies is 2-1-0 in the EDC and 2-1-0 overall. Sheyenne is 2-1-0 in the EDC and 3-1-0 overall.

West Fargo 3, Fargo North 0

WEST FARGO – West Fargo took the top spot in the Eastern Dakota Conference standings with a win over Fargo North on Tuesday.

West Fargo Sheyenne’s loss to Fargo Davies on Tuesday moved West Fargo into the lead with nine points. Fargo South is second with seven points and Davies and Sheyenne are tied for third with six points.

North has a record of 0-3 in EDC and 0-3 overall. West Fargo has a record of 3-0 in EDC and 3-1 overall.

Fargo South 3, Grand Forks Red River 0

FARGO – Nathaniel Kun scored two goals to lead Fargo South to a victory over Grand Forks Red River in an Eastern Dakota Conference game on Tuesday.

Kun gave the Bruins the lead with a goal in the 23rd minute and scored again later in the second period when South scored twice in a minute to win the game.

South is 2-0-1 in EDC and 2-1-1 overall. Red River is 1-2-0 in EDC and 2-3-0 overall.

Fargo Shanley 2, GF Central 1

GRAND FORKS – Fargo Shanley scored two second-half goals to win its first Eastern Dakota Conference game of the season at Grand Forks Central on Tuesday.

Grand Forks Central’s Michael Akohin scored the game’s first goal in the 28th minute, taking a long pass from Brady Kirkeby through the middle and bouncing the ball into the left post.

But Shanley equalized to 1-1 when Ben Tinguely scored early in the second half after an assist from Jackson Askew.

The Deacons’ Andrew Schneider scored the game-winning goal in the 68th minute, taking a pass from goalkeeper Hayden Braun, running down the left side of the goal and firing the ball into the right post.

Central almost equalised in the 71st minute when Kirkeby fired a powerful shot from 9 metres out on the right flank that rebounded off the left goal post and came back into play. Shanley cleared and ended the danger.

Central goalkeeper Rylan Dobrovolny stopped eight shots, while Braun, who was briefly on the bench due to injury, returned to the game and stopped nine shots.

Shanley is 1-2-0 in EDC and 2-2-0 overall. Central is 0-2-1 in EDC and 1-3-1 overall.

Benilde St. Margaret’s 2, Moorhead 0

ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. – Benilde-St. Margaret’s defeated Moorhead at Benilde-St. Margaret’s High School on Tuesday.

Moorhead is 1-1-1 overall. Benilde-St. Margaret’s is 2-0 overall.

MOORHEAD – Brainerd scored a big goal to keep Moorhead winless on Tuesday.

The Spuds will seek their first win of the season on Friday, August 30th at 6 p.m. in Buffalo.

Brainerd’s overall record is 1-1. Moorhead is 0-3 overall

MOORHEAD – Moorhead remains undefeated after defeating Brainerd 25-21, 25-17 and 25-7 in its first prep volleyball match played Tuesday in the new Moorhead High School gymnasium.

Moorhead has won all three matches this season by a set margin of 9-1.

Brainerd is 0-2 overall. Moorhead is 3-0 overall.

Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton 3, Detroit Lakes 0

DETROIT LAKES – Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton earned its first away win of the season with a sweep against Detroit Lakes.

The Rebels won 25–23, 25–20 and 25–23.

DGF is 1-0 overall, while Detroit Lakes is 0-1 overall.

Pelican Rapids 3, Moorhead Park Christian 1

PELICAN RAPIDS – Pelican Rapids rebounded from losing the first set to defeat Moorhead Park Christian 25-27, 25-17, 25-16 and 25-20 in both teams’ season-opening match on Tuesday night.

Park Christian’s Kaycee Endreson had five kills, four blocks and 19 digs and Annika Stromme had four kills, four aces and 12 digs. Libby Suckert had four kills, two blocks, three aces and eight digs. Kylee West had 12 set assists, served one ace and had 13 digs.

Park Christian is 0-1 on aggregate. Pelican Rapids is 1-0 on aggregate.
