Rebecca Ferguson, star of dune And Mission Impossiblewill star alongside Andrew Garfield, Claire Foy, Nicola Coughlan, Jessica Gunning and Jennifer Saunders in the film adaptation of Enid Blyton’s popular children’s book classic. The magical faraway tree.
Ferguson has joined the cast in the role of Dame Snap, the story’s headmistress and one of Blyton’s most famous villains.
From Neal Street Productions, Elysian Film Group and Ashland Hill Media Finance, The magical faraway tree is currently being filmed.
Based on the Far away tree The film is part of a series of children’s novels and is about Polly (Foy) and Tim Thompson (Garfield) and their children Beth, Joe and Fran, who are forced to move to the remote English countryside. “There the children discover a magical tree and its extraordinary and eccentric inhabitants,” says a summary of the plot.
The tree’s inhabitants, who can transport visitors to distant, fantastical lands, are played by Coughlan, who was cast as forest fairy Silky, and Nonso Anozie (Sweet tooth, Ted Lasso) as group leader Moonface. Gunning (Baby reindeer) will be Dame Washalot and Dustin Demri-Burns (Slow horses, The great) as Saucepan Man. Saunders (Simply fabulous, Shrek2) was cast in the role of the children’s ruthless grandmother.
Director Ben Gregor (Britannia, cuckoo, Black operations, fatherhood) said: “Rebecca has a commanding screen presence, is one of the finest actresses of her generation and will be an electrifying addition to our film.”
