Reality TV star is bitten by a camel at the zoo; she is then arrested for drug offences

ALAMO, Tenn. – Reality TV star Amy Slaton Halterman of the show “1000-Lb Sisters” was arrested on drug charges at a zoo on Monday, shortly after authorities learned that a guest had been bitten by a camel.

A news release from the Crockett County Sheriff’s Office said Halterman, 36, was charged with illegal possession of Schedule I and VI drugs and two counts of child endangerment. A second suspect, Brian Scott Lovvorn, was also arrested and faces the same charges. Both were booked into the county jail and held on $10,000 bail.

Officials headed to the Safari Park after receiving calls that a guest had been bitten by a camel. According to People, Halterman was the person bitten. She was taken to a hospital for treatment, reports say.

When officers arrived at the zoo, they were reportedly “surprised by suspicious odors coming from the guest’s vehicle.”

The press release does not mention what drugs were involved, but police told People they were marijuana and mushrooms. Marijuana is illegal in Tennessee.

The press release also does not provide any further details about Halterman’s relationship with Lovvorn or the child. Halterman has two children, ages 4 and 2, with her estranged husband, who filed for divorce last year, TMZ reports.

Halterman and her older sister Tammy have starred in TLC’s “1000-Lb Sisters” since 2020. The show reportedly documents their efforts to lose weight.
