Raton High School recognizes students who have received academic honors through the College Board National Recognition Program

Raton High School students received academic awards from the College Board National Recognition Program. The program recognizes the hard work of high school students across the country and helps them demonstrate their academic excellence.

For the first time, the academic awards recognize first-generation students in addition to rural, small-town, Black, Indigenous and Hispanic students. The program opens college access to more students as many institutions use the awards in their recruitment efforts.

“We are thrilled to celebrate our students and recognize them for their great work. We are proud of their strong academic performance in the classroom and on the PSAT/College Board exams,” said Lynette Simpson, RHS school counselor. “This honor highlights their individuality and their accomplishments.”

Students were eligible for these awards based on a combination of criteria: high grade point average, ranking in the top 10% of the state, and meeting one of the special student characteristics.
