According to several online reports, rapper Rich Homie Quan has died. He was 34 years old.
Fellow rapper Boosie BadAzz, whose real name is Torence Ivy Hatch Jr., was one of the first to confirm the news, writing about X on Thursday: “JUST TALKED TO YOU BRA đ #tipQUAN Never forget your smile and the way you talked and of course your music đŻ.”
The 41-year-old “Wipe Me Down” rapper also apparently revealed the suspected cause of death, sharing in a separate X-post on Thursday: “JUST GOT IT, @RichHomieQuan, JUST OVERDRESSED âźď¸”
Quan’s official cause of death has not been confirmed.
BadAzz reiterated in his post: âJUST TALK TO WUAN THE RECENTLY #gomissunâa.â
Podcaster Adam Grandmaison, known as Adam22, posted a photo of himself and Quan to his Instagram stories on Thursday and captioned it: âRIP Rich Homie Quan.â
TMZ also confirmed Quan’s death through the late rapper’s family and the Fulton County morgue, with relatives telling the outlet they were “shaken and heartbroken by his sudden passing.”
Page Six reached out to representatives for Quan but did not immediately receive confirmation of his alleged death. The rapper has also not released any official statements on social media.
Quan’s last Instagram post was shared on Monday and showed the “Type of Way” rapper – whose real name was Dequantes Devontay Lamar – wearing a football jersey and glasses.
The slideshow, which also showed him during his stage performances, was captioned “Clear vision, even through all the nonsense đ¤Ť.”
Quan had gotten into trouble in the past because of his alleged drug use.
In May 2017, he was charged with drug possession with intent to resell, but according to TMZ, the case was dropped in 2019 due to lack of evidence.
Born in Atlanta, Quan was best known as a member of Cash Money Records.
His 2015 single âFlex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh)â reached number 26 on the Billboard charts.
Quan’s death came just days after the rap world lost another of its stars.
On August 30, Fatman Scoop died at the age of 53 after collapsing on stage during a performance.
He was resuscitated backstage and then taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Scoop’s official cause of death has not yet been announced.
