Rapper Rich Homie Quan was found dead at the age of 34, allegedly as a result of a drug overdose.

The star, whose real name was Dequantes Devontay Lamar, died on Thursday at his home in Atlanta.

In a few weeks he was scheduled to perform at Nick Cannon’s Wild N Out in his hometown alongside artists such as Wacka Flocka and Nardo Wick.

His family told TMZ they were “shocked and heartbroken” by the sudden loss just one month before his 35th birthday.

He was found dead in his home in Atlanta. Rumors circulated online that he had suffered from a drug overdose.

A representative from the Fulton County Mortuary also confirmed the news of his death to the outlet.

Other musicians fueled rumors on the Internet about an overdose, but his family has not yet determined the cause of death.

Fellow rapper Playboi Carti was among those who paid tribute to the late star, posting several clips of him on his Instagram story.

Lamar entered the Billboard Top 100 with his 2013 single “Type of Way,” peaking at number 50.

He followed it up with ‘Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh)’ and ‘Ride Out’.

He gained further fame as part of the group Rich Gang together with Atlanta rapper Young Thug as part of a Cash Money Records project.

The New York Times described him at the time as part of the city’s emerging rapper generation.

His latest single “Ah’Chi” featured him alongside rapper 2ChainZ.

Lamar was scheduled to testify in the trial of his former bandmate Young Thug, whose real name is Jeffrey Lamar Williams, who is accused of street gang activities.
