Quinyon Mitchell has more dawg in him than Avonte Maddox and Darius Slay combined

A few clips from Sunday’s game shot by Mike Evans are circulating on social media. The best is probably this one with Quinyon Mitchell:

“The newbie, right? Yes, that means he got more juice. He drank the most juice out here.”

Well, at least one of the defensive backs had some juice in Tampa. After all the slay nonsense this week, it’s nice to see someone in this secondary being competitive, hungry, and motivated instead of trying to be friends with the opponent. There are other mic’d clips of Avonte Maddox and Slay goofing around with Evans, talking about Fortnite, and just taking a nice walk in the damn park:

We’ve already written half a dozen stories about Slay this week, so there’s no point in trying to beat the dead horse. Maybe there are other mic’d clips that show these guys actually fighting, but that’s doubtful. They are afraid of becoming the old man screaming at the cloud because the players are different now. For many of them, it’s just another job; They’re all friends and it’s a big brotherhood and they all have podcasts and YouTube shows and whatever. Great. But here comes Quinyon Mitchell as a rookie and he’s a buddy. He’s out here trying to prove something and he’s playing well. Evans caught just two passes for 19 yards on four scores against Mitchell, who fended off a corner fade in the end zone. Mitchell was everything we expected him to be and more. If only there was a way to transfer his personality and attitude to the other defensemen on this team, the casual veterans who are collecting a fat paycheck and planning their next appointment Call of duty meeting and think about who they will swap jerseys with after the game. Don’t necessarily talk about it Exit film, where they give a whole new brain to a completely different person, but if we could extract maybe 15% of Mitchell’s inherent sidekick and artificially infuse it into Slay and Maddox, then we’d have a 12-win playoff team.
