Project to plant 100 trees comes to Warminster

WARMINSTER, PA – A project to plant native water-loving trees has received approval from the Warminster Township Board of Supervisors.

At their June 20 meeting, the supervisors will present a proposal to plant 100 trees on a township-owned property near the Ben Wilson Community Center.

John McGee, chairman of the Warminster EAC, and Ken Jones, president of the Neshaminy Watershed Association, discussed a green infrastructure project for which the association has received funding in partnership with the municipality and others.

Rainwater from nearby settlements flows into this area and ultimately enters the Neshaminy River basin.

The EAC plans to plant a variety of trees, from small shrubs to large canopy trees, to give the senior center a majestic look.

They are familiar with the local infrastructure, including gas, electricity and cable lines, and will work with the municipality to ensure proper planting.

Initially, the plan is to plant 100 trees, but more are possible in the future.

The project will be funded by the EAC, which will encourage citizens to participate in tree planting and maintenance.

Supervisors expressed their support for the project as they are committed to “greening” the community by increasing tree canopy size.
