PRO JACKS CHECK-IN: WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

BROOKINGS, SD – Three former South Dakota State women’s basketball players recently completed their respective seasons in professional leagues abroad.

JENNIE RINTALA (SUNNARBORG)

Jennie Rinatala (Sunnarborg) has played professional basketball for ten years since graduating from South Dakota State in 2012.

Rinatala most recently played for the Diamond Valley Eagles in Australia’s NBL1 South. With the Eagles this season, Rintala averaged 7.1 rebounds per game and 10.7 points per game, a team-leading most.

Rintala has played for six Australian and two European clubs during her professional career. In 2013, Rintala led her team to their first-ever Grand Final appearance and was the 2022 MVP of the West Adelaide Bearcats, who won the NBL1 Central championship that season.

Rintala has been named team MVP six times and an NBL1 West All-Star twice. She has played with or competed against several members of Australia’s Paris 2024 Olympic team.

MYAH SELLAND

Myah Selland, a 2023 SDSU graduate, played two seasons in Spain and Australia last year.

After spending a few weeks in training camp with the Minnesota Lynx, Selland signed with Baxi Ferrol in Ferrol, Spain. She played in all 33 games during the 2023-24 season, averaging over six points per game and having the third-best scoring percentage on the team.

After her stint in Spain, Selland signed with the Gold Coast Rollers in Australia’s NBL1 North. She averaged 15.5 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists and was named the team’s MVP during the summer. With the Rollers, she set a career high of 26 points and 17 rebounds.

ENA VISION

Ena Viso graduated from South Dakota State in 2017 and recently finished her first professional season in Njardvik, Iceland.

Visa was named team captain in her first season with the club and led the team to the league finals. She played in all 36 games and averaged 11.9 points, 6.7 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game, all the second highest marks on the team.
