The Prince of Wales acts as usher at the British society wedding of the year
Prince William takes on a special role at the British society wedding of the year.
The Prince of Wales, 41, acted as an usher at the wedding of his friend Hugh Grosvenor, the Duke of Westminster, to Olivia Henson, the new Duchess of Westminster, at Chester Cathedral in northern England on June 7. Ushers are traditionally the first to arrive at a wedding and are tasked with welcoming guests and showing them to their seats.
While the heir to the throne usually arrives in state cars or carriages at official events, William opted for a more reserved approach. In a video released by the Post on SundayAs reported, he arrived with other guests in a Sprinter and entered the cathedral inconspicuously through a side entrance.
The Duke of Westminster is the richest person in the United Kingdom under the age of 40 (the family’s net worth is $12.8 billion) and Chairman of the Grosvenor Trustees and the Westminster Foundation.
Hugh’s role as godfather to Prince George is just one of many close ties he has to the royal family. The Duke of Westminster is a godson of King Charles and his mother Natalia is the godmother of Prince William.
