“Presence” – Steven Soderbergh’s haunted house film receives an official teaser from NEON

Steven Soderbergh’s Ghost story Present was acquired by NEONand the distributor announced this week that it will release the acclaimed film in January 2025.

Meagan Navarro enthused in her review: “Soderbergh unites with Kimi Screenwriter David Koepp (Uproar of Echoes) to give the typical ghost story an innovative new twist. Present depicts its hauntings entirely from the ghost’s perspective. From the first frame to the end credits, audiences see the gripping story unfold through spooky narrative twists created by Soderbergh’s experimentation with form and technique. Using the camera’s gaze as the ghost’s observing eyes isn’t the only trick Soderbergh and Koepp have up their sleeves, ensuring that this thrilling haunted house shake-up keeps you guessing.”

Present gives the haunted house format a contemporary, innovative new twist that avoids the beaten path and instead creates a different kind of horror,” Meagan’s review continues. “Combined with Koepp’s twisty script Present draws you in, terrifies you, and then leaves your heart on the floor. This ghost story isn’t scary in the traditional sense, but it’s an innovative and dark thrill ride that has more on its mind than the logline suggests.”

Wondering what the logline is? Here it is, via Deadline…

“In PresentA family moves into a suburban home, convinced that they are not alone. A supernatural force has entered the house and is particularly interested in the couple’s daughter.
