Preparation for the Agricultural Technology Days

CHIPPEWA COUNTY, Wis. (WEAU) – Chippewa County will host Wisconsin Farm Technology Days next week.

Today, preparation work continues at the Chippewa Valley Music Festival site near Cadott.

Since planning began in February, more than 500 volunteers have been helping to prepare the Wisconsin Farm Technology Days site.

Their volunteer coordinator, Cheryl Scheidler, said: “It takes an army. Just like on the farm, right? A farm family is a big family.”

Get ready to demonstrate the latest agricultural equipment and connect farmers of all ages.

“Farm Technology Days is all about supporting youth and agriculture. The rest of the volunteers come from nonprofit organizations throughout Chippewa County,” Scheidler said.

Farm Tech Days is not only a major trade show, it also brings the community together.

“It shows that we are a family… It’s about youth and agriculture and building a family on the farm… Bringing everyone together as volunteers in a family setting like this shows the youth that it’s important to give back to the community,” she said.

She encourages people to develop leadership skills to stay engaged as adults.

“Agriculture as a business has become more of a corporate structure in the Midwest … but we want to continue to encourage growth in agriculture and small family farms,” she said.

She added: “It’s a big event. There’s a lot of work behind it, it’s taken a year and a half to prepare. You know, I think the site here is a perfect platform and I think that’s why we have such a big event this year with so many exhibitors, because it’s the perfect setting.”

The Wisconsin Farm Technology Days will take place August 13-15.
