Powerball ticket worth $1 million purchased at small New Jersey grocery store

The $1 million Powerball ticket sold for Wednesday’s lottery drawing in New Jersey was purchased at a small convenience store in Newark, lottery officials said.

The lucky Powerball winner bought his ticket at Variedades Ecualatinas on Ferry Street in the Ironbound neighborhood of the state’s largest city. The ticket matched five numbers but did not match the Powerball, and it was the only second-prize ticket purchased in the country for yesterday’s drawing.

The winning numbers from Wednesday were: 1, 11, 22, 47 And 68The Powerball drawn was 7 with a power play of 4X.

No one in the country won Wednesday’s $176 million jackpot, raising the top prize for the next drawing on Saturday to $195 million, with a cash option of $99.1 million. No tickets were sold in New Jersey for the $50,000 third prize either.

The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292,201,388. A player who buys a $2 ticket has about a 1 in 11,688,053 chance of matching five numbers and winning at least $1 million, while the odds of winning a third prize of at least $50,000 are 1 in 913,129.

The Powerball drawing takes place every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Friday’s Mega Millions jackpot is worth $47 million, with a cash payout option of $23.9 million.
