Pueblo, Colorado (KKTV) – Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) is asking for your help as they believe two animals were killed in a poaching incident in Pueblo.
Police are looking for suspects and say the animals were killed earlier this month.
The first suspected case of poaching occurred on September 1, when a pronghorn antelope was killed near Swallows State Wildlife Area in Pueblo West.
A CPW official told 11 News that this is a common hunting area for doves and that they want to let dove hunters know if they notice anything unusual. CPW also said that a second poaching incident occurred less than a week ago, where a big-eared deer was shot near Kestrel Beach and Rock Canyon Rd. in Lake Pueblo State Park.
Travis Duncan, spokesman for CPW, says, “Colorado’s wildlife belongs to the people of Colorado.” Duncan continues, “It is a public responsibility, and Colorado Parks and Wildlife protects that wildlife for the people.”
