Popular street food truck comes to new locations

AFTER just six weeks on the road, Carlisle’s newest street food truck is already at it, serving up buns and fried food, with plans to pop up at two new locations.

Sam Addis will be adding Houghton and Brampton to her weekly commute to her beloved Smash Shack the first weekend in September.

Although Sam has been working at Home Bargains for over a month now, in addition to serving smash burgers, she says she is “tired” but “enjoying every minute of it.”

“We have learned a lot since we started,” she said.

Bringing her new truck to Brampton is a very special place for Sam because her father was born there and spent his entire life there.

Since they weren’t sure how well the business would be received, they discovered that there were already 30 people queuing before the delivery truck had even opened the hatch.

“I have met so many people from different backgrounds and now we even have regulars, which I think is great.”

Sam said he “tremendously” thanked everyone who visited the van for the support and positive feedback they received in such a short space of time.

“It is overwhelming how well we have managed this in such a short time.

“I’ve had some emotional nights, it’s like a dream come true and I hope it doesn’t end,” she said.

While they continue to serve fun-named Smash Burgers, Dirty Fries and signature corndogs using fresh produce from Steve Wilson’s Butchers, Sam announced that a new fall menu is currently in the works.

As for the new locations, the truck will serve its customers every Sunday from 1pm to 5pm in Houghton at Gosling Sike starting September 8th.

On September 6, visitors in Brampton can use the truck from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moot Hall.

Regular performances every Tuesday from 5pm to 8pm in front of the Everlast Gym in Carlisle and every Thursday from 5pm to 8pm at the Morton Manor will take place as usual.

Smash Shack typically operates on pre-orders, but for the first few days in Houghton and Brampton, customers will be served on a first-come, first-served basis.
