Unfortunately, the lazy, foggy and crazy summer days are coming to an end.
And for many it is still too early.
Although Labor Day weekend marks the unofficial end of summer, there is another telltale sign that the season is coming to an end – the impending closing of the WT Memorial Swimming Pool in St. Louis.
Central Michigan’s only municipal outdoor pool will remain open as long as lifeguards are available and the weather cooperates, according to a post on the city’s website.
But for the faculty, which consists of local students, these days are quickly coming to an end as they prepare to return to class.
This means that this weekend could be the grand finale of another season.
The swimming pool is open during regular hours, Fridays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturdays from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The cost is $3 per session.
However, the days and hours could be extended into next week, depending on weather conditions and if there are still enough lifeguards available to man their stations.
The swimming pool has been an integral part of the community for over 70 years.
Over the past decade, the facility’s interior and exterior have undergone approximately $400,000 worth of renovations, and residents of Gratiot County and beyond continue to enjoy its unique status.
For more details, including remaining pool hours and days of operation, visit the WT Morris Memorial Swimming Pool Facebook page or the city’s website.
