A Polk County woman now has some extra spending money.

Mary Curatolo of Haines City spent $20 on a $5,000,000 “Triple Match” scratch-off ticket in January and won a whopping $1 million prize, the Florida Lottery announced last week.

Curatolo opted for the one-time lump sum payout of $664,198.00. According to lottery data, she was one of only five people to win a million dollars playing the game this year, out of eight million dollar winners since its debut in 2023. Six people have won $5 million so far.

She bought her ticket at Publix at 617 U.S. Highway 17-92 in Haines City. The retailer received a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning ticket, lottery officials said.

The odds of winning the game are 1 in 2.85, according to the Florida Lottery, but the odds of winning the $5 million top prize are 1 in 3,774,705 and the odds of winning $1 million are 1 in 1,677,647. There are two $5 million prizes and five $1 million prizes still up for grabs.

Meanwhile, no one has won Mega Millions yet, and the estimated jackpot for Tuesday night is $800 million. The Powerball lottery jackpot was hit twice in one week last month, and was most recently reset when a ticket in California won the Powerball drawing on Monday, August 19. The current Powerball jackpot is $121 million.
