Police pursue out-of-control truck carrying four-year-old on I-5 in Seattle

Several police and patrol cars pursued a getaway truck on Interstate 5 in Seattle on Sunday.

There were reportedly two passengers in the truck, a woman and a four-year-old child.

The pursuit began in Pierce County after a sheriff spotted the truck, which had been reported stolen, and attempted to stop it. The truck driver then drove toward Snohomish County before turning back into King County.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the driver of the truck is a notorious car thief and has multiple warrants out for his arrest for misdemeanor and auto theft.

The truck was pursued south on I-5 toward Seattle around 11 a.m., striking other cars on the highway as it weaved through traffic. Eventually, the truck exited the highway in the South Seattle area and stopped in the Brighton neighborhood on Renton Avenue South.

It is unclear whether the driver stopped the truck himself or whether the officers stopped him by force. A motorcycle was found in the back of the truck.

The woman and child were reportedly unharmed.

KIRO 7 has been actively tracking the pursuit and a reporter is on the scene with the truck. We are working to gather more information and will update this story as we learn more.
