A woman was killed and a second person was hospitalized when a tree fell on their vehicles in Howard County, police said.
Columbia resident Stephanie Scensny was identified by police as the driver of a Honda CR-V that died in a crash in Ellicott City on Sunday, August 11.

According to Howard County police, Scensny was driving west on Baltimore National Pike near the Baltimore County line shortly after 5:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon when a tree fell on her vehicle.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second woman in a Dodge Ram 1500 was also injured and taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Unit for treatment and evaluation of non-life-threatening injuries.
The incident resulted in the road in the area where the tree had fallen being closed for several hours.
