Police: Gordon Ramsay chef murdered during London visit

A British man has been charged with murder after authorities say he killed a Swedish chef who worked under Gordon Ramsay in London.

Mussie Imnetu, 41, was found unconscious with an apparent head injury near the Notting Hill Carnival on August 26, the Metropolitan Police said. Imnetu died four days later and police later ruled it a murder.

A man, Omar Wilson, 31, was arrested in connection with the incident and initially charged with grievous bodily harm, the Metropolitan Police said.

The BBC reported that Wilson appeared in court on Monday, September 10, where he was charged with murder, according to prosecutors. Wilson has not yet confessed, the news agency reported.

According to police, Imnetu was visiting London from Dubai, where he lived and worked.

Citing prosecutors, the BBC reported that Imnetu suffered a headbutt before the suspect allegedly struck him several times, including after Imnetu fell to the ground.

It is not immediately clear what preceded the alleged attack. Police are seeking several witnesses who may have further information about what Imnetu did before his murder.

Imnetu was the head chef at The Brasserie, a restaurant at Arts Club Dubai, a members-only club.

According to the club’s website, Imnetu previously worked under Ramsay, Alain Ducasse and Marcus Wareing.

Imnetu is from Eritrea and grew up in Sweden, the website said.
