Police evacuate Palm Beach County mall after gamer Clix claims he was ‘swatted’

BOCA RATON, Florida. – Police evacuated a shopping center in Palm Beach County on Saturday afternoon.

According to Boca Raton police, the evacuation was a “precautionary measure” after a caller made a threat from the north parking lot of the Town Center in Boca Raton.

Cody Conrad, a famous gamer nicknamed Clix, shared a video in which he said police officers misidentified him as a threat when one of his followers “swatted” him, a harassment designed to get emergency services to send a response team.

“We can’t leave the mall because one of you attacked the mall and said there’s a shooting going on here next to my (expletive) car,” Conrad said during his livestream on Twitch. “All (expletive) stores are locked down. You literally can’t get out of the (expletive) building.”

Earlier in the day, Conrad’s livestream shows him shopping at the mall and later he is seen walking in the parking lot when a group of fans rush towards him, screaming. The video shows Conrad stopping to greet them, then talking about “swatting.”

The Twitch livestream was interrupted several times. When the connection was restored, Conrad, a competitive Fortnite player with millions of followers, said he heard people screaming in fear because a shooting was being faked at the 6000 Glades Road mall.

“Whoever did this on my stream, every single person is scared,” said Conrad, also known as Cody Conrod.
