‘Please return my van’; Contractor gets work vehicle taken by tow truck driver in Pagedale

PAGEDALE, Missouri (First Alert 4) – A North County general contractor says his work truck, with thousands of dollars worth of tools inside, was taken by a tow truck driver Wednesday morning.

Franky Jordan says he turns on “First Alert 4” every morning, but on Wednesday he watched his security camera footage instead.

“I looked around the scene and the whole van was gone,” Jordan said. “I saw footage of a tow truck driver driving the van up the road.”

Jordan’s surveillance video shows the headlights of a black tow truck with no license plates driving down Curtis Avenue in Pagedale at 5:52 a.m. The video shows the driver trying to hook up Jordan’s work vehicle from behind, so he hooks it up to the front and eventually drives away in Jordan’s white 2019 Ram Promaster van. He says he had up to $8,000 worth of tools and equipment in his work vehicle, forcing him to postpone jobs.

“Please bring me back my van,” Jordan said. “There was no name on the truck, it was just a black tow truck.”

In April, First Alert 4 was the first news outlet to report a tow truck driver stealing multiple cars in Dutchtown. Shortly after our reporting, police arrested 47-year-old Bryant Wendell and charged him in two separate cases.

“That crossed my mind, but the way he looked at it was like he was really looking for the vehicle,” Jordan explained. “That’s what scares me, why would he be looking for it?”

Jordan’s video shows the tow truck driver flashing a light through the windshield. He thinks the guy may have been looking at the VIN.

Pagedale police told First Alert 4 they are investigating the case as an accidental repossession or red-handed theft because investigators say Jordan has the proper title and bill of sale.

“I am a man of faith, and by faith I will get through this,” Jordan said.

Jordan hopes that his faith can provide him with a living at home.
