Pitt’s Bachelor of Nursing program is ranked No. 4 in the country according to U.S. News & World Report

According to U.S. News & World Report’s 2025 Best College rankings, the University of Pittsburgh’s bachelor’s degree in nursing is among the best in the country.

Pitt Nursing moved up six spots to No. 4, the highest ranking in BSN history.

“This ranking reflects the status of our nursing program and its long-standing tradition of excellence,” said Anantha Shekhar, Pitt’s vice chancellor for health sciences and dean of the John and Gertrude Petersen College School of Medicine. “It is a testament to the caliber, talent and dedication of our faculty and staff.”

The BSN, offered at Pitt’s Greensburg and Johnstown campuses and in Pittsburgh, joins the ranks of other top-ranked Pitt nursing programs, including the Nurse Anesthesia DNP program (No. 2), the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner DNP program (No. 5), the Doctor of Nursing (No. 11), and the School of Nursing’s online MSN program (No. 14).

“We are thrilled to receive this worthy recognition,” said Christine E. Kasper, dean of the School of Nursing. “This year we received the most applications in the school’s history and were able to admit one of our largest classes of 250 freshmen. Prospective students know the quality of our program, which has long been at the top of the class. Year after year, we produce highly qualified nursing professionals and leaders to address the nursing shortage in Pennsylvania and across the country. Our alumni provide leadership and care wherever they work, and they make us proud.”
