PINK HMD BARBIE PHONE GETS TENAA

Barbie phone
The HMD Barbie flip phone is set to launch on August 28

Earlier this year, Human Mobile Devices (HMD) and Mattel, the creator of Barbie, announced plans and a collaboration to develop products for the Barbie brand, with lavish events and invited influencers. It seems the plan is moving forward, as a new leak suggests that a Barbie phone under the HMD brand will be submitted to the TENAA database for certification.

According to MySmartPrice, the new Barbie phone will resemble the Nokia 2660 flip phone, but of course in a bolder pink and with a toy-like body. The phone is approved by TENAA with model number TA-1681 and features LTE connectivity, suggesting that a US release is definitely in the pipeline. The only photo shows prominent Barbie branding that matches the HMD logo on the top and bottom display bezels.

The TA-1681 will feature a 2.8-inch TFT screen with VGA resolution, while the secondary display will be a 1.77-inch TFT panel. It will be powered by an unnamed single-core processor (possibly UNISOC) running at a frequency of 1.05GHz. RAM is the feature phone standard of 64MB, and internal storage is 128MB – thankfully expandable up to 32GB via a micro SD card. For anyone worried about that, there’s also a single rear-facing camera with LED flash.
