Pikes Ibiza has introduced a comprehensive ban on mobile phones on the dance floor. This decision, which initially caused controversy, is now being welcomed as a positive change in the way partygoers interact with the music and each other at this iconic party location.

The policy, which began as a trial run for Monday night events in April, has proven so successful that the venue is now expanding it to every night of the week. Staff will place a sticker over patrons’ cellphone cameras as they enter the venue and actively enforce the rule throughout the night.

Explain the reasons for this decision, Pike explained on their Instagram, “When you have your phone in your pocket and you concentrate on the music – and you know that everyone around you is doing the same – a whole world of freedom opens up to you, not just on the dance floor, but everywhere pike, and that is why we have decided to introduce this arrangement seven evenings a week.”

Other clubs in Ibiza are introducing similar mobile phone bans for selected events. This trend is spreading worldwide, with venues such as Nowadays in New York and Material Such rules are also being introduced in London, indicating a trend towards more intense nightlife experiences.
