Pierce Brosnan “restored my faith in men” on the Bond set

Halle Berry said in a video interview with Wired that Pierce Brosnan “restored” her faith in men during the filming of her James Bond film “Die Another Day” (2002). The action film was Brosnan’s last appearance as 007 after a seven-year run that began with 1995’s “GoldenEye.” Berry played Bond girl Jinx in the film.

“He will always be my Bond, always,” said Berry when asked about her experience on the film. “I’m a Pierce Brosnan fan. He restored my faith in men in that film. There couldn’t be a more gentlemanly person than Pierce Brosnan.”

“Bond wasn’t on my bucket list, no, not to be in one, but I’ve always loved the films,” Berry continued. “Having been in one, I feel like I’m part of film history. … These films are iconic. They will be a part of our history forever and I’m really honored to have been part of a film like that, especially with Pierce.”

Berry’s Jinx in Die Another Day proved so popular among Bond fans that franchise producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson began planning Berry’s own spinoff film. But diversity In 2020, he reported: “The plan was thwarted when MGM got cold feet about the film’s $80 million budget. This decision infuriated Broccoli. One of her main goals as steward of 007 was to shake off some of the chauvinism that characterized Bond’s performances in the novels and early films.”

“It was very disappointing,” Berry said later diversity about the loss of the Jinx film. “It was ahead of its time. Nobody was willing to put that much money into a black female action star. They just weren’t sure it was worth it. That’s where we were at the time.”

Berry is currently starring alongside Mark Wahlberg in the Netflix action film The Union. Watch her Wired video interview in the post below.
