See the most beautiful moments from the dream wedding of Jana Duggar and Stephen Wissmann!
The eldest of the Duggar daughters, 34, and her husband, 31, celebrated their love in the presence of their closest friends and family at their ceremony in Arkansas on Thursday, August 15, which the reality star described as “classic” and “elegant.”
Here’s how the day became a “dream come true” for the newlyweds at The Grand at Willow Springs in Prairie Grove.
A dream comes true
“I think this is one of those things that all girls imagine one day,” Jana told PEOPLE about her wedding two days before the ceremony. “For me, it felt like, ‘Okay, this is never going to happen.’ But now I’m starting to realize that I can finally grasp it. Reality is starting to sink in. And I’m like, ‘Wow, this is really something I’ve dreamed of.’ And just to see it come true is incredible and kind of hard to believe. It’s a dream come true.”
Beautiful venue
The couple married at The Grand at Willow Springs, a venue in Prairie Grove that Jana described as “beautiful and picturesque.”
hand in hand
“I haven’t always understood what the big picture is, but I know that God knows what’s best for all of us. And that’s why, for me, marrying later is,” Jana told PEOPLE, referring to seeing her siblings get married before her.
“I mean, I’ve watched them all go through it and now I’m going through it and it’s different, but we’re older,” she added. “We’re in a different stage of life. We’re a little more established, so we’re a little more stubborn, but that’s good. We’re learning. We’re growing. And it was different, but it was so sweet.”
The groom and his witnesses
Stephen, who works in irrigation system installation, had a big smile on his face as his groomsmen.
With dad to the altar
Jim Bob Duggar walked his daughter down the aisle to the song “Holy, Holy, Holy.”
500 guests
After their vows and the lighting of a wedding candle, the couple attended their reception together with 500 guests.
A bit like a princess
“The dress looked classy and a bit princess-like,” said Jana about her ivory satin ball gown.
Time for cake!
For dessert, there was a three-tiered cake with lemon-raspberry filling and cupcakes. For dinner, the groom’s family prepared chicken, green beans, mashed potatoes, dinner rolls and coleslaw.
Happy together
“Since we come from two larger families, we love to come together and celebrate moments like this. And having them all here just means a lot to us,” said Jana.
Kiss on the wedding day
The couple shared a sweet kiss after saying “I do” on their big day.
First Dance
The bride and groom danced their first dance before Jana threw her bouquet into the crowd.
The next chapter
Stephen and Jana plan to move to Nebraska, where he grew up, to get married. “He has a little house that we bought and we just renovated and fixed up,” Jana said.
