Philadelphia Eagles vs. Green Bay Packers Week 1: How to watch and more

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — The Philadelphia Eagles The 2024 regular season begins tonight against the Green Bay Packers in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The Eagles ended the 2023 season in disastrous fashion, losing six of their final seven games. The collapse led to changes in the coaching staff. We’ll get our first actual look at Kellen Moore’s offense and Vic Fangio’s defense against Green Bay with all of the team’s regulars tonight, and there are a few other storylines as well.

Here’s how to watch Eagles-Packers and everything else you need to know.

How to watch Eagles-Packers

The Eagles’ Week 1 game against the Packers in Brazil will be the first NFL game in South America and will be streamed exclusively on Peacock.

But don’t worry, if you live in the Philadelphia area, you don’t need a Peacock subscription to watch the Birds. As long as you live in the Delaware Valley, the game will air on NBC10, which starts at 8:15 p.m.

If you are an Eagles fan who traveled to Brazil but are not going to Arena Corinthians to watch the game, you can watch it on CazéTV, which will be streamed via YouTube, Amazon Prime, Twice and Samsung TV Plus. The game will also be shown on RedeTV and ESPN Brazil.

Fans outside the local Philadelphia market can also stream the game via NFL+ if they don’t have a Peacock subscription.

Storylines to watch

Tonight we will see the Eagles quarterback for the first time Jalen injured, new running back Saquon Barkley and other skill position players AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith in Moore’s offense. Hurts, Barkley, Brown and Smith did not play in the preseason.

Philadelphia’s offense regressed in 2023, especially toward the end of the season, becoming boring and predictable. Moore will look to change that in 2024 and bring in some more creativity with movement and other ways to get Philadelphia’s weapons the ball in space.

It will also be the first game without future Hall of Famer Jason Kelce after he retired. The Eagles have been preparing for this moment for years and hope that Cam Jurgens is the one who can take the reins. All eyes will be on the Eagles offensive line in São Paulo for the first game of the post-Kelce era.

On the other side of the ball, Fangio’s defense will have an early test against quarterback Jordan Love, who stood out last season and landed a huge contract, and the rest of the Green Bay Packers offense. The Packers defeated the Dallas Cowboys in the wild-card round of the playoffs last season and nearly beat the San Francisco 49ers in the divisional round.

A key to containing Love will be former Georgia Bulldogs — Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter — especially after Fletcher Cox, Another great Eagles player joined Kelce in retirement.

Eagles-Packers betting odds

The Eagles-Packers betting odds have changed since they were introduced. The Birds were 1.5-point favorites at some bookies at the start, but that number has jumped since then.

At FanDuel Sportsbook, the Eagles are 2.5 point favorites and the over/under is 48.5. The Eagles are -152 on the money line.

Eagles Watch Party at Lincoln Financial Field

Although the birds fly south to Brazil, Eagles fans on their way to Lincoln Financial Field to watch the season opener tonight.

The Eagles are hosting a watch party at the Linc and according to the team, it is sold out. Doors at the Linc open at 6 p.m.

Eagles present new uniform

When the Eagles take the field in Brazil, they will have a new uniform combination against the Packers.

The Birds will wear white jerseys with black pants, white socks and black helmets.

The Eagles’ uniform reflects the colors of Corinthians Paulista, a Brazilian professional soccer team that plays at the Arena Corinthians.

The Packers will wear their green jerseys with yellow shorts against the Eagles. The color green is worn by Palmeiras, the arch-rivals of the Corinthians.

Brazil tightens security measures

After some players, including Eagles cornerback Darius Slayexpressed concerns about participating in games in Brazil The government of the state of São Paulo said it will increase security.

The government of the state of São Paulo announced that it would deploy hundreds of police officers and provide escorts for the team buses for the Eagles’ game against the Packers on Friday.

Gun violence and crime in Brazil are among the highest in Latin America. The metropolis of São Paulo is also affected by a wave of cell phone thefts.

Eagles injury report

The Eagles will be missing two players in defense against the Packers.

Cornerback Isaiah Rodgers and linebacker Devin White have both been ruled out. Rodgers is dealing with a hand injury and White is dealing with an ankle injury.

With Rodgers out, Eagles rookie cornerback Quinyon Mitchell will start alongside Darius Slay.
