Phase 3 of the signal modernization work on Line G begins on Monday

The MTA will begin Phase 3 of construction to upgrade the G Line’s signals on Monday morning.

The agency has a plan for affected rail passengers.

Crews will work to repair critical tracks and equipment in North Brooklyn.

There is a very sharp curve that trains take between Bergen Street and Hoyt Street. It is the center of these infrastructure improvements, but the repair will mean that service will have to be suspended until September 3rd.

During the work, Line G trains will not run between the Bedford-Nostrand Avenue and Church Avenue stations.

The B93 shuttle bus service will operate in its place between Bedford-Nostrand Avenue and Jay Street.

In a statement, Jamie Torres-Springer, president of MTA Construction and Development, said he knows the delays caused by required transfers are inconvenient for commuters, but added that they “appreciate customers’ understanding as we work to modernize a signaling system that dates back to the Roosevelt administration.”

With the shuttles operating at the now-closed G Line stops, the MTA promises riders that they can expect a shuttle every 1 to 4 minutes during weekday mornings, afternoons, and evenings. In the late evening and at night, riders can expect a shuttle every 5 to 10 minutes.
