PennDOT announces completion of box culvert on Route 97 near Maryland state line

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has completed the replacement of a box culvert on Route 97 in Germany Township, Adams County, near the Maryland border. The section of Route 97 between Mathias Road and Georgetown Road is now open to traffic after being closed since mid-June.

This project is part of a larger initiative on Route 97 that stretches from the Maryland border to Route 194 in Littlestown Borough. Ongoing construction includes paving, base repairs, guardrail updates, drainage improvements, and installation of ADA-compliant ramps, as well as sign updates, pavement markings, and other miscellaneous tasks. Despite the road opening, motorists should still expect roadway restrictions and markings.

York Springs-based JVI Group, Inc. is managing this massive $2.737 million project, which is scheduled for completion on October 17, 2024.
