Patrol identifies Jamestown man, others injured in rollover crash near Dunseith, ND – Jamestown Sun

DUNSEITH, ND — The North Dakota Highway Patrol on Sunday, August 25, identified three people, including a Jamestown man, who were injured in a single-vehicle rollover crash about 2 miles west of Dunseith on Thursday, August 22, at approximately 6:45 p.m.

The patrol said Vincent Peltier, 22, of Devils Lake, North Dakota, was traveling east on U.S. Highway 281 in a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado with four passengers – Lance Nadeau, 27, of Jamestown, Vance Nadeau, 23, of Dunseith, JoMarie Lavallie, 18, of Dunseith and a one-year-old girl from Dunseith.

For an unknown reason, the vehicle left the roadway and entered the south ditch, the patrol said. The patrol said the driver overcorrected, causing the vehicle to cross both lanes and enter the north ditch, where it overturned and came to rest on its south-facing wheels.

The patrol said several passengers were ejected from the vehicle and all four passengers were injured. The patrol said none of the vehicle’s occupants were wearing seat belts or other restraints.

All passengers were taken to Quentin N. Burdick Hospital in Belcourt. Due to the severity of their injuries, several passengers were later flown by rescue helicopter to Trinity Hospital in Minot and Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, police said.

Police said charges have been filed against the driver. The accident is still being investigated by police.

From the Jamestown Sun editorial report

Our newsroom occasionally reports under the name “Staff.” The “Staff” name is often used when rewriting basic news briefs from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure that requires little or no reporting. Sometimes this name is used when a story has multiple authors or when the story consists of compiling previously reported news from various sources. When outside sources are used, this is noted in the story.
