Patriots Practice Squad Tracker: Latest News, Rumors and Signings

Patriots Practice Squad Tracker: Latest news, rumors and signings originally appeared on NBC Sports Boston

The New England Patriots have reduced their roster to 53 players by the deadline on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. ET, but the construction of the first practice squad for the upcoming NFL season is still in progress.

The Patriots announced the signings of their first seven practice squad players on Wednesday afternoon, all of whom participated in Patriots training camp this summer.

A training squad may consist of a maximum of 16 players, so further new additions are to be expected in the coming days and weeks.

The most prominent name on the list is running back Kevin Harris. He had a good training camp and played very well in the third and final preseason game against the Washington Commanders, where he caught an 18-yard touchdown pass from rookie quarterback Drake Maye.

Harris was one of a few, somewhat surprising, layoffs the team made before trimming its roster to 53 players on Tuesday.

Here is the full list of players currently on the Patriots’ first practice squad (this list will be updated as more players are added):

UPDATE (Thursday, August 29): Wide receiver Jalen Reagor, cornerback Isaiah Bolden, offensive guard Michael Jordan and defensive tackle Trysten Hill – the four players released Wednesday to make room for the team’s new additions on the waivers list – were in the Patriots’ locker room before practice Thursday, indicating they are back on the practice squad.

Center Bryan Hudson, who spent the offseason with the Detroit Lions, has also made the practice squad.
