Patrick Mahomes donates $5 million to Texas Tech Athletics

LUBBOCK, TX – Three-time Super Bowl champion and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes donated $5 million to Texas Tech Athletics.

Mahomes and his wife Brittany donated $5 million to the $242 million South End Zone and Dustin R. Womble Football Center project.

“When we launched this campaign, Patrick was just a freshman and now it’s fitting that we approach the end of the campaign with a gift of our own,” said Athletic Director Kirby Hocutt. “We couldn’t be prouder to announce this gift from Patrick and Brittany Mahomes. We are so proud of Patrick for all he has accomplished and how he has continually supported Texas Tech on a global level.”

In recognition of the gift, Texas Tech will name its soon-to-be-completed walkway at the Womble Football Center after Mahomes. The three-time Super Bowl champion will also be honored by naming Texas Tech’s quarterback meeting room and the offensive coordinator’s office in the new South End Zone Building at Jones AT&T Stadium.

Mahomes has been a dedicated supporter of his alma mater throughout his career. He has attended numerous Texas Tech home and away games and has been a vocal advocate for the university. His recent donation is a testament to his commitment to Texas Tech and its athletic programs.

The Mahomes Gladiator logo has become a popular symbol for Red Raider fans since Texas Tech partnered with adidas to release co-branded apparel featuring Mahomes’ signature logo. This marks the first time an adidas athlete partner’s logo has been featured on official college apparel.

“There is no better ambassador for Texas Tech athletics than Patrick Mahomes,” said head coach Joey McGuire. “He is arguably the greatest brand in sports, not only because of his success on the field, but also because of what he and his family do off the field. Since being hired here at Texas Tech, I have realized how much Patrick truly loves this university and the football program, and this gift further underscores that. On behalf of our entire program, we cannot thank Patrick and Brittany enough for the impact they have on our student-athletes and the future of Texas Tech football.”

With Mahomes’ donation, Texas Tech has exceeded its original fundraising goal of $100 million for the south end zone and Womble Football Center project.
