The Chiefs’ dominance over the Chargers continued, marking their sixth straight win over their AFC West rival. Additionally, the Chiefs extended their record of 11 consecutive road wins against the Chargers, the longest active streak of any visiting team in the league. Head coach Andy Reid was also proud of his team’s resilience, emphasizing that they stuck together even when things seemed to be going in the wrong direction. “The boys supported each other,” said Reid, emphasizing the collective strength of his team.
Kansas City faced some challenges early with the loss of wide receiver Rashee Rice, who suffered a possible season-ending knee injury. Rice was injured while chasing Chargers cornerback Kristian Fulton after an interception return. The Chiefs also suffered two turnovers, one of which was Mahomes’ fifth interception of the season.

Despite these setbacks, the Chargers were unable to take full advantage of Kansas City’s mistakes and only scored 10 points due to turnovers. Los Angeles struggled to maintain offensive momentum, going three-pointers on four of their final eight possessions. Their running game, which had been a strength in the last two wins, became ineffective, managing just 55 rushing yards while averaging 2.3 yards per carry.
Kansas City’s defense stepped up, especially when the Chargers had a golden opportunity to regain the lead. At a crucial moment in the fourth quarter, Los Angeles advanced to the Chiefs’ 3-yard line. However, quarterback Justin Herbert’s pass to tight end Hayden Hurst fell incomplete thanks to tremendous pressure from Chiefs defenders Chris Jones and Felix Anudike-Uzomah. Seven minutes later, the Chiefs took the lead for good with a 2-yard touchdown run by Samaje Perine to seal the game. Kelce, who played a crucial role in the victory, recorded seven receptions for 89 yards, breaking the franchise’s previous receiving record, previously held by Tony Gonzalez.
