Passengers unable to purchase tickets due to SEPTA technical issue – NBC10 Philadelphia

On Monday, riders were unable to purchase tickets or top up SEPTA Key cards to ride on SEPTA’s entire public transit system.

According to SEPTA spokesman Andrew Busch, the transit provider has been struggling since about 5 a.m. with riders trying to purchase tickets or top up SEPTA Key cards at kiosks, on local trains or on SEPTA’s website.

In a statement on the issue, Busch said that passengers with credit on their SEPTA Key card or those with a ticket are not affected – the validators at turnstiles, on buses and trolleys are all functional.

In addition, subway, bus and trolley passengers can continue to pay at turnstiles with Apple/Google Pay as usual, Busch said in a statement.

However, passengers who would like to purchase a ticket or add credit to a SEPTA Key Card are asked to go to the ticket office or speak to their bus driver or the conductor of the regional train, according to Busch.

“No one will be turned away, we just want them to notify a SEPTA employee so we can keep track of the number of rides and lost revenue,” Busch wrote in a statement.

SEPTA is working with SEPTA’s key contractor Conduit to identify and resolve the issue, Busch said.

This is a breaking news story and will be updated as new information becomes available.
