Jordan Love’s return to the Packers will be delayed by at least another week.
The Green Bay Packers’ starting quarterback was declared unavailable for Sunday’s game against the Titans; former Tennessee quarterback and current Packer Malik Willis was given preference.
Love, 25, suffered a torn medial collateral ligament during the Packers’ final drive of their 34-29 loss to the Eagles on Sept. 6 in Brazil.
ESPN reported earlier this month that Love – in the first year of a four-year, $220 million contract extension – would be out for about three to four weeks.
Willis, 25, started in place of Love in the Packers’ 16-10 win over the Colts last week.
The third-year quarterback completed 12 of 14 attempts for 122 yards and a touchdown.
Sunday’s game marks Willis’ return to Nashville after being traded from the Titans in August.
He was the team’s third-round pick in 2022.
When asked what it was like to face his former team and prove them wrong, Willis stressed that there was no ill will involved.
“I don’t care, brother. I think I got paid the whole time I was there,” Willis said, according to The Athletic. “I’m more than grateful for the opportunity they gave me and they put me in this league whether those guys are there or not.”
The Titans rely on Will Levis, who is playing as quarterback in his second year and has suffered two losses in a row.
The former second-round pick drew the ire of coach Brian Callahan last week when an unfortunate coin toss led to a Titans turnover and the Jets lost 24-17 to the Aaron Rodgers-led Jets.
Callahan, in his first season at the helm of Tennessee, seemed to scream from the sidelines, “What the hell are you doing?”
The Titans (0-2) and Packers (1-1) begin at 1 p.m. at Nissan Stadium.
