Packers News, September 30: Packers must learn from self-inflicted mistakes

The Green Bay Packers shouldn’t give up after yesterday’s loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Yes, they looked like a shell of themselves for most of the first half, but after that the team woke up and fought their way back to within two points at the end of the game.

Some people say there are no moral victories in football; In this case, this author disagrees.

The fight and determination the Packers showed to get back into the game was commendable. The best teams in sports don’t let mistakes affect them, but rather learn from them and work to avoid mistakes. That’s what the Packers need to do going forward, especially with the turnovers and drops that came both early and late and ultimately cost the team its real chance to win the game.

Additionally, the Packers defense shows it can make big adjustments in halftime. This week, the unit allowed just three points after halftime, giving the offense a chance to close the gap. In fact, the Packers have allowed just 20 points after halftime in their last three games combined.

Next week, there’s a chance that Love and the Packers will have a good game against a depleted Rams team. But the Packers must avoid repeating some of the mistakes that cost them a chance to win on Sunday if they want to get back into contention for an NFC North title.
